In the Community
WE RUN A NUMBER OF PROJECTS TO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.

Evolve:

Our Evolve project aims to increase the mental well-being of 14-19 year olds in care or leaving care. Young people in care are four times more likely to experience mental health problems than the average young person.

In immediate terms, a young person feels more confident, understand themselves better, can better manage their emotions, and report improved relationships with others. In the slightly longer term, we see some young people returning to mainstream education, others taking up training at college, and others find employment. Occasionally, it has become clear that a young person has radically changed their life for the better as a result of the counselling.

Since its inception in 2006, our Evolve project has helped over 500 young people in the Stockport area, and for many it has been transformational; changing the path in life they are taking for good.

Liberty:

Our Liberty project provides therapeutic and trauma counselling for victims of child sexual exploitation and those at risk of becoming sexually exploited, along with their families.

Counselling is provided by a specialised trauma therapist who works with the young person, and our partner organisation Relate Greater Manchester South works with the family, typically the parents.
