In the Community
WE RUN A NUMBER OF PROJECTS TO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.
Our Evolve project aims to increase the mental well-being of 14-19 year olds in care or leaving care. Young people in care are four times more likely to experience mental health problems than the average young person.
In immediate terms, a young person feels more confident, understands themselves better, manages their emotions better, and reports improved relationships with others. In the slightly longer term, we see some young people returning to mainstream education, others taking up training at college, and others finding employment. Occasionally, it has become clear that a young person has radically changed their life for the better as a result of the counselling.
Since its inception in 2006, our Evolve project has helped over 50 young people in the Stockport area, and for many it has been transformational, changing the path in life they are taking for good.
