COUNSELLING WITH BEACON

We care about the quality of what we do and are committed to self-development. Our counsellors are professional, friendly and respectful.

We have a caring and committed counselling team of over 60 counsellors who counsel at our two centres, in community venues, on projects and in schools.

Why Beacon?

Counsellors are offered one to one and group supervision and training to support them in their roles.

Other benefits include:

  • Attending our CPD training courses half price
  • Being a part of an active network and community of counsellors
Getting involved with our ‘Beacon Counsellors Forum’ where counsellors meet, discuss best practice and support each other.

Interested in Counselling with Beacon?

We typically recruit to our counselling team twice a year for volunteer counsellors. We usually recruit internally for paid sessional work, with the exception of specialised work which will be posted here

The next volunteer recruitment will be in Autumn 2017.

Beacon counsellor Margaret Etchells shares why she continues to volunteer for Beacon.

“I have been volunteering for Beacon since 2002 because the organisation reaches out to the diverse needs of the people of Stockport and beyond. In the 14 years I have been at Beacon we have expanded our adult services to include working with new groups and outreach venues in a variety of locations. I work from an outreach venue one day a week and know how vital Beacon’s presence is to the community it serves there.

Beacon accepts clients regardless of their financial ability, which in these difficult financial times, is critical to helping those who need it the most. I have been told regularly by clients that they feel valued by our service. I value this organisation and what we achieve, and will continue to be part of the Beacon family team as long as I am able.”

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Beacon provides continuing professional development training from evening talks to full day master classes. All CPD training is open to anyone with the goal of enhancing best practice in the local area. The courses are open to all, including anyone who would like to develop personally and professionally.
